Facility will increase capacity and modernise the patient environment
Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust has appointed Tilbury Douglas to lead the construction of the £4.3m Warrington emergency department extension.
To increase capacity, modernise facilities, and improve patient care within the unit, the scheme, which has a floorprint of more than 1,000sq m, includes the construction of a two-storey extension of the Appleton Building.
The project, which is expected to be completed next spring, also includes the construction of a gable end on the above building to form extended spaces for waiting, assessment, and treatment rooms, as well as new staff rooms and offices.
Phil Shaw, divisional director for the North West at Tilbury Douglas, said: “As an established contractor with a track record of delivering healthcare schemes of all sizes, we are proud to be leading this project.
“This is an exciting scheme to be involved with as it is our first project with this trust, which will further add to our depth of healthcare experience in the North West.”
