Make your kitchens safer with HobSensus

HobSensus is a safety product for use in the kitchens of vulnerable adults, student accommodation, housing associations, or those living with dementia. It alerts residents if there is potential for a pan fire and ensures hobs are not left switched on when no one is in the kitchen.

It couldn’t be simpler to use – a press of the red button commences the pre-set timer, so, if the person preparing food is distracted and leaves the kitchen, the hob will automatically switch off. The timer can be pre-set for 15, 20, 30 or 120 minutes providing a range of run-times for a variety of users needs.

The sensor in the device divides the cooking space into 64 temperature zones. When temperatures rise above 250°C - for example if oil is being used to cook – HobSensus will alert those cooking and, well in advance of a flashpoint, turn the power to the hob off.

The Green LEDs signify the unit is in operation. If Orange lights flash and a beep is heard, this indicates the temperature on the cooking surface is reaching a dangerous level. If no action is taken the beeping becomes more intense. Red LEDs flash to alert those close by to deal with the situation, and power to the hob is cut rendering the kitchen safe. When the pan has cooled down, a press of the red button enables the person preparing food to resume their cooking.

The system is easy to fit, and installation can usually be carried out in fewer than 45 minutes by a competent electrician. The 40 Amp switching capacity means the unit can operate most electric hobs, both 600mm or 900mm wide.

HobSensus is tamper-proof thanks to clever design and robust manufacture. A hard-wearing fascia is easy to keep clean and ensures the units effectiveness in the most challenging environments. Fully compliant with EN50615:2015 concientious landlords can be confident that their kitchens are safer with HobSensus on the wall.
