Tilbury Douglas begins construction of new Ribblesdale Oncology Ward
A new oncology ward at the Royal Preston Hospital will provide a more-aesthetically-pleasing and comfortable environment for patients and visitors.
The new 24-bed ward is partially funded by the Rosemere Cancer Foundation and is being built by Tilbury Douglas.
The contract follows Tilbury Douglas’s recent success in delivering Ward 5 to support Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust’s response to the Coronavirus crisis.
Its latest project is expected to be completed by September this year.
The Royal Preston Hospital provides a full range of hospital services and has around 700 beds, an operating theatre complex, outpatient suites, and education facilities.
Commenting on the new project, Phil Shaw, divisional director at Tilbury Douglas, said: “The team at the Royal Preston Hospital did an exemplary job delivering Ward 5 at short notice.
“And this latest award of the Ribblesdale Oncology Ward project demonstrates the trust’s confidence in our expertise and capabilities to support the NHS.
“We are looking forward to starting on site and delivering this vital facility for patients and the local community.”
