Henry Brothers Construction has started work on a £1.9m project to expand the stroke unit at Lincoln County Hospital.
The project is the first phase of a two-stage refurbishment programme at the hospital and will involve the reconfiguration of Navenby Ward to increase stroke care capacity.
The works include merging two five-bay wards into a single Hyper Acute Stroke Unit, alongside changes to ancillary areas and upgrades to mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems.
The ward will also undergo internal refurbishment works including new joinery, flooring, doors, ceilings, lighting and decoration.
United Lincolnshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust appointed Henry Brothers Construction to deliver the scheme through the Pagabo Refit and Refurbishment Framework.
Other firms involved in the first phase include Day Architectural, which is providing architectural, project management and quantity surveying services, and DSSR, which is delivering mechanical and electrical engineering services.
The second phase of the programme will begin after the refurbishment of Navenby Ward and will focus on upgrading the hospital’s existing stroke unit.
Henry Brothers said it is currently delivering a number of healthcare projects across the East Midlands, having recently completed an endoscopy unit in Leicester.
