Offsite manufacturer McAvoy has appointed Matthew Usher as Healthcare Design Manager, as it continues to invest in specialist expertise to support its growth strategy and building solutions for NHS trusts and private providers.
Usher joins McAvoy with a strong background in healthcare architecture, having previously worked as Project Architect at Corstorphine & Wright. He has delivered projects across a wide range of clinical environments and brings dedicated knowledge in designing compliant, adaptable and patient-focused facilities. At McAvoy, Usher will lead on health-related design projects nationally across the UK and Ireland, playing a central role in shaping future modular facilities manufactured for both rental and sale.
Usher's appointment comes at a key time of growth for McAvoy’s healthcare portfolio across the UK and Ireland, with recent project success including its work at Good Hope Hospital and a range of SmartCare rental facilities for acute and community settings. This year, McAvoy was awarded a place on the NHS Commercial Solutions Framework (Lot 2: Modular & Prefabricated Building Services) for the first time. The offsite manufacturer was also reappointed to the NHS Shared Business Services (SBS) Modular Building Framework for the third consecutive term.
Laura McCormick, Healthcare Strategy Lead at McAvoy, said: 'Healthcare providers continue to face rising demand, operational pressures and budget constraints. Strengthening our design capability is a key part of our strategy to help trusts deliver the facilities they need, including optimising funding, accelerating delivery programmes, and supporting long-term adaptability. Matthew’s specialist background in healthcare architecture will improve the service we provide at every stage of a project, from early engagement through to design and delivery. We’re delighted to welcome him to the team.'
Usher will work closely with McAvoy’s dedicated healthcare specialists and manufacturing teams as the business continues to expand its sector offer. With at least 70 per cent of each facility manufactured offsite, McAvoy provides high-quality, HTM/HBN-compliant buildings that can be delivered quickly with minimal disruption, supporting both urgent and planned healthcare needs.
McAvoy recently refreshed its healthcare identity under the McAvoy Health brand, reflecting its focus on delivering flexible, future-proofed facilities for clinical and non-clinical environments across the UK and Ireland.
