Tilbury Douglas has begun work on a new £2,5m breast cancer unit at Yeovil District Hospital.

The contractor is delivering the unit on behalf of Yeovil District Hospital NHS Foundation Trust via the Procure Partnerships Framework.

Located next to the women’s hospital, the unit will bring all relevant services together, enabling patients to have a clinical examination, ultrasound scan, mammogram, biopsy, prosthesis fitting, and an appointment with a doctor or specialist nurse in one place.

Paul Gale, divisional director at Tilbury Douglas, said: “As the main contractor working on this important project, it was great to be able to mark such an important milestone as we officially start construction of the 500sq m facility, which will be based across two floors.”
