Facility will provide 24 additional beds for cancer patients
A new cancer unit has been completed at the Royal Preston Hospital.
Tilbury Douglas has handed over the new Ribblesdale Oncology Ward to Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Partially funded by the Rosemere Cancer Foundation’s 20-Year Anniversary Appeal, the 24-bed ward provides a more-aesthetically-pleasing and comfortable environment for cancer patients.
And, as part of the project, Tilbury Douglas pledged to support the foundation to raise additional funds outside of the budget.
This included funding and installing an entertainment package consisting of nine televisions and a games system.
Phil Shaw, divisional director for the North West at Tilbury Douglas, said: “It is great to have successfully completed such an important project that will make a big impact on the experience of cancer patients in the region.”
