Country Court Care acquires Somerset site for 70-bed care home

Country Court Care has acquired a development site in Chard with planning consent for a 70-bed care home, marking the operator’s first scheme in Somerset.

The site on East Street was sold by specialist property adviser Christie & Co following a marketing process on behalf of Frontier Estates. The sale price was not disclosed.

Planning consent has been secured for a 70-bedroom care home with en suite wetrooms and communal facilities including a café, library, private dining room, hair salon, cinema and landscaped gardens.

The development site occupies a prominent location in Chard, close to the town centre and the A30, and is intended to expand care provision in the area.

Country Court Care currently operates 49 care homes across England. The Chard development will be the group’s first home in Somerset, with construction expected to begin later this year and the home scheduled to open in early 2028.

The acquisition reflects continued investor appetite for care home development opportunities in the South West, where operators continue to target areas with limited provision of modern purpose-built care settings.
